When’s the best time to hire a magician for my wedding day?

31st August 2020

When’s the best time for a magician to entertain?

This is something I get asked a lot and it’s a very good question! Every wedding I’ve performed at is different, yet there are 3 key periods of the day that work best when hiring a wedding magician:

Drinks Reception / Photographs

Congratulations, you’re officially married and now being whisked away for your wedding photographs.

BUT WAIT…..your guests don’t know anyone, they’re left twiddling their thumbs, sipping expensive champagne and waiting impatiently for your return…sound familiar?

If you’re planning a large gap between your ceremony and wedding breakfast, then it’s great to think of ways to keep your wedding guests entertained!

This is where I come in. Hiring a magician during your drinks reception / photographs is a great way to break the ice and to keep a relaxed and fun atmosphere!

Drinks Reception / Photographs magic is perfect for:

  • Reducing the gap between the ceremony and wedding breakfast
  • Breaking the ice between family & friends
  • Capturing candid shots of your guests (your wedding photographer will love you for this!)

The Wedding Breakfast

Don’t underestimate the impact a magician can have whilst performing during your wedding breakfast.

Entertainment during this period is now very popular. It’s also an easy fix to those seating plan worries you may have!

Magic between tables creates a seamless transition from course to course. It builds excitement around the room and helps settle the nerves for the speeches.

Upon arrival at the venue, I’ll liaise with your wedding coordinator to entertain in the most appropriate order.

For entertainment during this period, I guarantee:

  • ZERO interruptions – I only perform magic between courses
  • An extra special magic performance for the bride and groom at the top table
  • A fun and exciting atmosphere all of your guests will enjoy! It’s the perfect conversation starter for your wedding breakfast

Room Turnaround & the Evening Reception

Once your wedding breakfast and speeches have finished, there can often be a ‘lull’ in proceedings whilst the room is being turned around.

Weddings can be long so this is a fantastic point in the day to re-energise your guests so they stay happy, and ready for the big party ahead.

Magic at this point keeps the day flowing. It fills any ‘down-time’ whilst the room is being set up and creates excitement for arriving evening guests!

Magic during this period is great if:

  • There’s a large gap between your wedding breakfast and evening reception
  • Additional evening guests are arriving and you want them to immediately feel welcome and part of your day
  • You don’t want any of your guests to miss out on the entertainment
